More on the FTAA cop riot in Miami: Libertythink is reporting that, in addition to broken bones, “there were also lost eyes from rubber bullets, and of the 273 that were arrested, 5 were raped in jail by cops.” Also, now that Amnesty International is seeking an investigation of the Miami Police (see this), Libertythink is asking whether or not this is a case of Problem-Reaction-Solution. That is, with the fascists out of control, will the socialists now be brought in to “save” us?

Embedded Journalist Beats Up Protester

Over the past week, many ugly images of police brutality at the FTAA protests in Miami have emerged.

For instance, this video (Quicktime 4.1 M) of an unprovoked police charge and violence against peaceful protesters.

And this, a series of photographs showing a woman being shot in the back with rubber bullets while dispersing.

None of this is new, of course. We saw similar outrages a few years ago in Seattle, and in Chicago in 1968.

But here is something new: "embedded" reporters strutting around in police uniforms physically assaulting protesters.

Read this excerpt from the article "The Miami Model":

As Timoney was talking with his men, one of the guys on the bikes approached us with a notepad. "Can I have your names?" he asked.

I thought he was a police officer preparing a report. He had on a Miami police polo shirt, just like Timoney's. He had a Miami police bike helmet, just like Timoney's. He had a bike, just like Timoney's. In fact there was only one small detail that separated him from Timoney-a small badge around his neck identifying him as a reporter with the Miami Herald. He was embedded with Chief Timoney.

That reporter was one of dozens who were embedded with the Miami forces (it's hard to call them police), deployed to protect the FTAA ministerial meetings from thousands of unarmed protesters. In another incident, we saw a Miami Herald photographer who had somehow gotten pushed onto the "protesters side" of a standoff with the police. He was behind a line of young kids who had locked arms to try and prevent the police from advancing and attacking the crowds outside of the Inter-Continental Hotel. He was shouting at the kids to move so he could get back to the safe side. The protesters ignored him and continued with their blockade.

The photographer grew angrier and angrier before he began hitting one of the young kids on the line. He punched him in the back of the head before other journalists grabbed him and calmed him down…

So it's come to this. Until last week in Miami, the abuse of the public by mainstream journalists went no further than mental abuse. They lied, they misinformed, distorted the facts, left out facts, played down important stories, played up trivial stories, and in general contributed to the dumbing down and debasement of our society.

But now, what started out as mental abuse has become physical. That is the way with abuse. It escalates.

If we needed further proof that the mainstream media is our enemy, we have it now. Just keep this image in mind: A journalist in a cop uniform beating up a peaceful protester.

It gives added meaning to Mark Twain's comment about the freedom of the press: "There are laws to protect the freedom of the press's speech, but none that are worth anything to protect the people from the press."

In two days it will be 40 years since the above photo was taken. I was 11 years old and, according to the clock on the Texas Schoolbook Depository, it was 11:38—less than 24 hours since the death of President Kennedy. The world felt different that morning. All this is described in Dealey Plaza and the Dream.

In addition to this week being the 40th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, it is the 25th anniversary of another infamous conspiracy: the massacre at Jonestown. I say "massacre," because the truth is that the people who died at Jonestown did not commit suicide by drinking cyanide-laced Kool-Aid.  According to Guyanese coroner Leslie Mootoo, at least 70 were murdered, either by forcible  injection of cyanide or machine gun.  Most likely, Jonestown was a CIA mind control experiment which went awry and had to be shut down.  Read about it here.

Predictably, the Johnson family and associates are indignant over allegations that Lyndon Johnson was involved in the JFK assassination.  Read about it here.  These allegations were made in a new segment of Nigel Turner's documentary "The Men Who Killed Kennedy," which aired Monday night and will be rebroadcast Friday night.  Interviewed in the documentary is Barr McClellan, lawyer for LBJ, who has written a book, Blood, Money, and Power.  McClellan was also interviewed today on the Alex Jones Show; the show will be repeated tonight and can be heard here. Read a chapter from McClellan’s book here.

A former lawyer of Lyndon B. Johnson says in a book his boss was behind the conspiracy

Last night's History Channel presentation of three new episodes of Nigel Turner's series "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" contained a treasure trove of new information.  Among those interviewed were a mistress of Lee Oswald, Lyndon Johnson's mistress Madeleine Brown, a Murchison family employee who corroborated Brown's story about the meeting in the Murchison home depicted in my comic strip Operation Northwoods, and Barr McClellan, the lawyer in the story linked above. These episodes will be re-broadcast Friday and Saturday.  In addition, the first six episodes (filmed in 1988) will be broadcast beginning tonight.
