IT’S ALIVE! IT’S ALIVE!
The Story Thus Far: Television and the Hive Mind escaped from my laboratory and is now running amuck throughout the Internet. Lately, it has begun to mutate. As mentioned previously in this blog, a mutation of the article appeared in which someone highlighted phrases in italics, different colors, etc. and added their own comments. Sample: here and here.
Now, a new version has appeared with a different title: Hive Mind vs. Global Brain—TV vs. Internet.
There is also a mutation which combines the two previously mentioned mutations.
Even more bizarre mutations have been generated at horriblemonster.com where visitors are invited to submit pieces of text to be garbled into William Burroughs-style cut-ups. When someone submitted TV/Hive Mind, sentences such as the following resulted:
One need only known the advent of Philosophy at night, glancing into living rooms lit by its component parts.
Humanity would become a handful of heroin missile silos of humanity
Humanity would have come to be made to survive as representing a new World War of television.
Since then, someone submitted TV/Hive Mind in combination with William Gibson’s Neuromancer, Battlelab Initiatives, and President Bush Commends Military, resulting in passages like this:

A New Interview with Gore Vidal
We are talking about despotism. I have read not only the first PATRIOT Act but also the second one, which has not yet been totally made public nor approved by Congress and to which there is already great resistance. An American citizen can be fingered as a terrorist, and with what proof? No proof. All you need is the word of the attorney general or maybe the president himself. You can then be locked up without access to a lawyer, and then tried by military tribunal and even executed. Or, in a brand-new wrinkle, you can be exiled, stripped of your citizenship and packed off to another place not even organized as a country - like Tierra del Fuego or some rock in the Pacific. All of this is in the USA PATRIOT Act. The Founding Fathers would have found this to be despotism in spades. And they would have hanged anybody who tried to get this through the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Hanged.

Television and the Hive Mind continues to turn up in the strangest places. Day before yesterday, I learned that James Lloyd discussed my article on his shortwave radio program Apocalypse Chronicles. Then, yesterday, I read a news story in which Al Gore delivered a speech describing the “quasi-hypnotic influence” of television. Has Al Gore been reading my article too?!?!? Well, folks, just remember you heard it here FIRST.

An estimated 15.7 million people watched Diane Sawyer interview the
former prisoner of war in a 90-minute ABC News special on Tuesday,
Nielsen Media Research said Wednesday.
That compares to the 14.9 million people who watched NBC's movie,
"Saving Jessica Lynch," on Sunday.
Lynch couldn't compete with a beloved television icon, though: "The
Andy Griffith Show Reunion," a nostalgia-fest broadcast earlier Tuesday
on CBS, was seen by an estimated 21.6 million people, Nielsen said.

I’m back home in the Austin area after a weekend visiting family in Dallas …
Since I last updated this blog, my comic strip about state-sponsored terrorism, Operation Northwoods began self-replicating throughout the Internet. It all began when local activist and international talk show host Alex Jones posted it on his website, Infowars.com. Alex also discussed the comic strip on his Friday show, urging listeners to download and send the strip far and wide. For, as he pointed out, many people will not read articles, but they will read a comic strip (and then, it is hoped, might be inspired to read the articles).
For a long time, I have wanted to meet Alex (pictured above in a Reuters photo protesting globalist gangster Vicente Fox’s recent visit to Austin). Even though he and I live in the same town, we have somehow not gotten around to meeting one another.
Well, Friday evening, as my wife and I were driving to Dallas, we were talking about Alex. We were happy that he had posted the Northwoods strip on his site and once or twice mentioned how nice it would be to meet him. So, we stopped for dinner at El Chico’s in Waco, and hadn’t been sitting there more than 10 minutes when Alex walked in the door. Seems that he too was on his way to Dallas. What an uncanny coincidence! Why, it is almost enough to turn one into a coincidence theorist. (Actually, I don’t believe it was coincidence. It felt more like synchronicity, which is another matter altogether.)
Anyway, we hollered at Alex, he came over to our table, and we finally met.
Following Alex’s posting and discussion of the Northwoods strip, it has also been posted on Propaganda Matrix and Liberty Think--great sites, by the way, which have been linked in the News and Information section of this site for a long time.
In the coming week, I will make good on last week’s promise to post the Northwoods strip on this site with links to articles documenting everything in the strip.
