At one point I accidentally bump into a table where some people are eating. I apologize, but they refuse to accept my apology. Unable to appease them, I drop the matter and walk away. Eventually, I emerge from the restaurant and find myself in the cultural district of Fort Worth. I realize I have lost my cowboy hat, but am consoled by the discovery that I am wearing the good-smelling fringe-leather jacket I wore as a child during the Davy Crockett craze of the 50s. I asked Blair in Sydney, for the Australian perspective, and received the following interesting reply:

as background let me observe that first as colonists and then as a nation, australians always looked to the mother country - england - for protection until during world war two it became obvious - and england said it openly - that the mother country did not have the resources to defend australia and no defense help would be forthcoming! from that time australians have looked to the united states of america for that protection.

the ties between america and australia  - economic, social, defense - which were already important have grown stronger and deeper ever since.

american history is given in australian schooling almost equal emphasis to australian. also your movies, books, magazines, music and television are here in abundance. though you don't know much about us we know your history and culture rather well. as well i have the impression that a much higher proportion of our population visits your shores than yours ours.

the push for the separate australian colonies to become a nation - and to have as the fundamental organic law a constitution modeled on the american - was substantially the idea and work of king o'malley - a man born and raised in the u.s. who came to australia and became an australian of note - his contribution was fundamental to the shaping of australia as the kind of nation it is - did you know that an american was a founding father of australia?

australians are aware that it is substantially and uniquely owing to the americans doing it first that we were able to achieve our independence and our constitution and our freedoms and democratic way of life which we presently enjoy.

and even to this day that is the case -  it is often said, "as america goes australia goes".

we also have a popular saying, "when america catches cold australia sneezes."

all of which may help to explain why australians are avid watchers of what goes on in america.

our welfare to a considerable extent is tied to yours. we want america to go well. we want an america which continues to enjoy the unique gifts of freedom it's founding fathers gave her. we want a prosperous, strong, inspiring and good america.

what the internet does - and what you do well in particular - is give us news of importance about america that the mainstream press doesn't cover very well if at all.

you give us that and that's all you need to do.

we just want a realistic and full picture - warts and all - of what's going on.

among the many kinds of stories that you cover i suppose one that might be of special interest right now is the economic one. there is so much contradictory information it's hard to figure out what the real picture is. our newspapers are certainly very interested in the condition of the u.s. dollar and whether it is going to fall much further.

personally i particularly like the zircon theatre and - although i realise you are very busy and i understand that you must not have much time if any at all to spare - i would love to see more!

A third-hand story from an anonymous confidential source is the ANTITHESIS of "100 percent confirmation" and you should know better than to perpetuate such a tabloidism.

Thanks for writing.

First of all, the title “100 percent confirmation” is the author Tim White’s title, not mine. If you believe his post is erroneously titled, please take it up with him. (By the way, there is no relationship between myself and White.)

Second, journalists are allowed to quote confidential sources, Woodward and Bernstein’s “Deep Throat” being the best-known example. Journalists are also allowed to quote investigators who use confidential sources. By this journalistic criteria, then, there is nothing wrong with White's post.

Also, the quoted investigator in White’s post is FBI Senior Special Agent in Charge (ret.) Ted Gunderson, who has worked with Noreen Gosch on the Franklin Cover-Up case. (See this report by Gunderson on her website JohnnyGosch.com.) Regardless whether or not you regard Gunderson as a credible source, it is still noteworthy that this former FBI agent and associate of Noreen Gosch is saying this, particularly in light of her refusal to either confirm or deny that “Jeff Gannon” is Johnny Gosch. This puts the post in the category of legitimate news, not “tabloidism.”

Mother of Teen Hit with Taser 16 Times Plans to Sue

In an interview with Alex Jones today, Stephen Bower, the lawyer for the mother in the above-linked article, provided a great deal more information than is in the article. Here is the full story:

A 17-year-old boy was at his girlfriend’s house when he began choking on a hamburger. His girlfriend’s mother (a practical nurse) called 911, then attempted to remove the food from his throat; she succeeded before cops and EMS arrived. However, while choking, the boy had suffered a significant loss of oxygen to the brain, causing a condition known as hypoxic encephalopathy, which is characterized by inattentiveness, poor judgment, and motor in-coordination. This condition requires emergency medical attention, for if oxygen is not quickly restored, brain damage or death can result.

The boy did not receive the prompt medical attention he needed, however, because the cops arrived ahead of the ambulance and treated the situation as if it were a crime scene. Observing the boy’s strange behavior, the cops came to the “expert” opinion that he was intoxicated (despite the practical nurse’s explanation that he was suffering from hypoxic encephalopathy) and began issuing commands to the boy—commands he was in no condition to comprehend, let alone obey. When he did not obey, the cops began firing their Tasers at him.

The girlfriend and another girl, who had been watching this shining example of police work, now began to scream hysterically—an “obstruction to justice” which the cops dealt with by warning the girls that, if they did not shut up, they would be arrested.

A total of sixteen horribly painful jolts of electricity were delivered into the boy’s frail, impaired, 150-pound body before the cops finally decided they had played with their Tasers long enough. The EMS technicians were then allowed to take the boy to the hospital where it was determined that he had indeed been suffering from hypoxic encephalopathy, and where it was also determined by toxicological tests that there were no drugs or alcohol in his system, thus casting no small degree of doubt on the cops’ claim that they had smelled alcohol on him.

Now in fear for their jobs, and desperate for evidence of drug use, the cops searched the boy’s car (without probable cause, of course) where they “found” a marijuana pipe that did not belong to the non-smoking boy. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest, and his court date set for April 13.

Following his assault by these cretins, the boy suffered complete amnesia for a full 24 hours and three months later still requires medication to treat persistent headaches. The lawsuit filed by his mother seeks reimbursement for medical costs ($35,000 so far) and unspecified damages.

A reader sends the following translated paragraphs from an interview with freed Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena’s partner Pier Scolari in La Repubblica regarding the the US military’s attack on the convoy that was taking Sgrena to safety:

Scolari: "I militari Usa hanno impedito i soccorsi per alcuni minuti e hanno impedito che chiunque si avvicinasse all'auto". Lo ha detto Pier Scolari entrando all'ospedale del Celio. "Giuliana aveva avuto delle informazioni secondo le quali gli Usa non l'avrebbero lasciata tornare viva a casa. Il governo ha l'obbligo di fare luce e gli Usa devono avere il coraggio di dire che in Iraq siamo in mano a dei ragazzini," ha aggiunto Scolari.

"The US soldiers prevented first aid for several minutes and prevented anyone from coming near the car," said Pier Scolari as he entered Celio (military) hospital. "Giuliana had had information that the USA wouldn't let her return home alive. The Government must cast light on what happened and the USA must have the courage to say that in Iraq we are in the hands of teenagers," he added.

Scolari: "Giuliana ha raccolto decine di proiettili, a manciate, erano tutti sul sedile dopo la sparatoria". Lo ha detto Pier Scolari, aggiungendo che "Calipari aveva fatto quella strada tantissime volte e quindi si potrebbe pensare male: che gli americani non volevano il lieto fine. Questo è un motivo buono per andare via dall'Iraq."

"Giuliana collected dozens of bullets, by the handful, they were all on the carseat after the shooting", said Pier Scolari, adding that "Calipari had travelled along that road a great many times, so there is reason to suspect foul play: that the Americans didn't want the happy ending. This is a good reason to leave Iraq."

In another La Repubblica story (LINK), Giuliana Sgrena states: "Non era un check point, ma una pattuglia che ha sparato appena dopo averci illuminato con un faro. Non si è capita la provenienza dei proiettili, precedentemente non avevamo incontrato posti di blocco."

"It was not a checkpoint but a patrol that shot at us immediately after having turned a light on us. We couldn’t understand where the bullets were coming from, before that we hadn’t encountered any checkpoints.”
