It occurs to me that this blog could use more graphics. So tonight I implement this new policy with the above classic pulp magazine cover (one of my all-time favorites). As you can see, it is a continuation of the Scary Dummy theme (begun below). Look for more visual thrills in the days/weeks/months/years/decades/centuries/millennia etc. to come.
While I’m talking about things I plan to do, I should add that very soon I will be updating the playlist of RADIO MACK with new music, new comedy, new commentary, and new sonic strangeness very soon. Stay tuned …

Taser Report
The article states that it's not being done in response to any problems in the school:
St. Paul Police Add Tasers to School Patrols
This incident conveniently provided an opportunity for pro-Taser propaganda. TV news stations across the nation played video of the incident over and over:
Police Taser Brawling High School Basketball Fans
Here's more information about the prisoner who died last week after being Tasered nine times. He had been arrested for loitering:

I’m ready for the photo below to start shuffling its way down to the bottom of the page where it won’t be the first thing you see when the page opens. The more I look at it, the more wrong this photo seems. It’s disturbing—the sort of thing nightmares are made of.

My good friend HipBilly sent me the following email regarding the recent corporate plane crash in New Jersey. I had not previously heard this information. It is very interesting …
Mack,
Sorting through the news and crunching the numbers, I find it a bit odd that yesterday's crashed jet in New Jersey carried executives of Kelso Investments, a firm that was recently shut out of acquiring a Shell oil refinery by Pacific Energy on behalf of Flying J Oil. Also, on the "crashed" plane was an Irish businessman that previously escaped the Twin Towers on that September day.
Odd don't you think?

One of the more popular features on this site over the past couple of months has been “The Dictator Fashion Show.” Recently, Los Angeles magazine Citizine published it in its on-line edition. (Link) Coming soon to Citizine’s print edition: an article by myself about the New Freedom Initiative.

The third-graders who were arrested, handcuffed, and charged with a felony for drawing a "threatening" picture of a classmate will not be prosecuted. Instead, the Florida State Attorney's Office has directed that the boys undergo five-to-seven months of "anti-aggression and anti-bullying counseling." While this outcome is not as bad as prosecution would have been, it is still disproportionately harsh for what was nothing more than normal childish nonsense. No one was physically hurt by the drawing and there is no credible evidence that the boys intended to act out the drawing; therefore, as aggression or bullying, this incident barely registers on the scale and does not merit subjecting the boys to a half-year of psychotherapy.
However, if a grown man had done such a thing—that is, graphically expressed his violent thoughts towards someone on paper—that would be serious. Coming from someone old enough to know better, such a sadistic work might be construed as a viable threat; also, were it to be published in a national magazine where it might influence others to act on his words, it could be reasonably viewed as an attempt to incite violence.
I am not speaking hypothetically; I am referring to New Republic writer Tom Frank who has called for the torture and killing of anti-war activists Arundhati Roy and Stan Goff.
Frank’s offense is similar to that of the third-grade boys, only he is not in the third grade and he did not express his sadistic fantasies towards these individuals by drawing stick figures on a piece of paper for his own amusement; no, he is a grown man who presents himself to the world as an Informed Political Commentator, and who published his sick rant in an influential publication.
Now, Frank might argue that the piece was intended merely as satire. But the third-grade boys thought their drawing was funny too, and that did not get them off the hook, did it?
No, I’m sorry to say, Frank should be arrested, handcuffed, and charged with making terroristic threats. If a pair of third-graders can take such treatment, then surely this grown “man” can take what’s coming to him.

The Village Idiot
We are of course not surprised whenever a “neo-con” makes a point based on a false premise, and when this occurs we naturally attribute it to dishonesty on the neo-con’s part. However, after reading the transcript and viewing the video of a CBC interview with Ann Coulter, I have come to the conclusion that, at least in her case, such a judgment is unfair, and possibly even too harsh. That is, I do not believe that her insistence on the readily-proven untruth that Canada sent troops to fight in the Vietnam War is due to a desire to deceive (i.e., lie), but rather, is due to idiocy.
