The mysterious case of Nick Berg continues to get more mysterious. In addition to Michael Moore’s announcement that he interviewed Nick Berg for the film Fahrenheit 9/11, we have the latest article by Sherman Skolnick which describes Berg as an intelligence operative involved in the September 11 conspiracy. Skolnick also states that Bush family is attempting to stop a scandal from erupting which could lead to a military coup.

In the news today, we find two more examples to add to the ever-growing mountain of examples of what's wrong with today's cop. Yes, I know these news stories do not represent every cop. However, stories such as these have become so common that they indicate, at the very least, something dreadfully wrong with the hiring and training of cops. Too many mentally deficient, morally rotten thugs are being hired, and their sick behavior is reinforced by the zero-tolerance, everyone-is-guilty, us-vs.-them, treat-every-situation-the-same, I-Am-God attitude that defines today's cop culture.
Example No. 1: After delivering an anti-drug presentation to a fifth grade class, a cop was approached by a boy who tried to hug her. She responded by twisting his arm and taking him to the ground. The good news: She was fired. The bad news: There's plenty more psychos where she came from.
Example No. 2: Responding to a call from a school for special needs children a cop heroically fired a stun gun at a nine-year-old girl. Not only is he still running around loose, he's still on the police force.
If you think it's bad now, just wait till they start hiring the torturers, rapists, and murderers who are currently receiving their training in Iraq. Abu Ghraib is only the tip of the iceberg, and the recent attack on the wedding party was not the first, nor will it be the last, atrocity committed by US troops.

Today is Day 1 of a five-day Memorial Day weekend drawing marathon, in which I will be racing the deadline clock to finish my piece for The Bush Junta. However, I will take the occasional break to post on this blog, so stay tuned.

Above is the splash panel from “The Bush-Nazi Connection,” a comic strip by Marcel Ruijters which will appear in The Bush Junta, the book I’m co-editing with Gary Groth. The book will be published by Fantagraphics this September. In addition to Marcel’s piece, it will include work by 23 great cartoonists, including Spain Rodriguez, Ted Jouflas, Seth Tobocman, Mark Landman, yours truly, and so many more I can’t list them all now. Several pieces have been completed, but most of the artists (including me) are furiously racing the deadline clock. In about three weeks the book will be finished, and you will see many more samples on this site. (Also, in three weeks, I will be able to start updating this site more frequently. So stay tuned, folks! I’ve got lots of new features planned for this site, as well as my Bison Bill site, which hasn’t been updated since Christmas.)
I should add that author Uri Dowbenko, author of Bushwhacked: Inside Stories of True Conspiracy and proprietor of Conspiracy Planet, will be writing the Preface for The Bush Junta.
The other night, while talking with Uri, who wrote this article on the phoniness of the Berg beheading, I suggested that the video might have been more convincing if someone had thought to hire Herschel Gordon Lewis of "Bucket of Blood" fame to handle special effects. True, the video still would have looked cheesy, but at least there would have been some BLOOD-the absence of which, medical experts say, gives it away as phony.
Uri also has a few things to say about ESPN's censorship of Hunter S. Thompson's comments on Abu Ghraib.

A video of the Iraq wedding that the US military recently disrupted by slaughtering 45 human beings proves that it was just that: a wedding. The military, however, undaunted by so trivial a thing as incontrovertible proof, continues to deny that the gathering was innocent. In this news conference, Brigadier General Mark Kimmit allows that, yes, there might have been some kind of celebration, but "bad people have celebrations too." I suppose that, if it were pointed out to him that 13 children died in the atrocity, he would excuse that as well by saying, "Bad people have children too."

So, wise up: Not only are you not supposed to say that Diebold is rigging our elections, you can't even read about it or think about it. So, let's just drop the whole damn subject and pretend we still have a working electoral process.

Warns Officials To Look for People Wearing Bulky Jackets on Warm Days; Smell of Chemicals; Trailing Wires from Jackets Bombers May Disguise Selves As Pregnant Women
New York - The FBI has disseminated to 18,000 law enforcement agencies an intelligence bulletin advising police officials to be on the lookout for suicide bombers attempting to strike inside the US, TIME's Elaine Shannon reports today on TIME.com. The lightly classsified bulletin, headlined "Possible suicide bomber indicators," and circulated earlier today (May 20) via the FBO's secure Law Enforcement Online (LEO) Intranet, warns local badge-carriers to look for obvious signs of trouble - people wearing heavy, bulky jackets on warm days, smelling of chemicals, trailing wires from their jackets - and, as well, more subtle ones, such as tightly clenched fists. Someone who never shows his palms could be gripping a detonator rigged to go off when a button is released. "If you shoot him, you're still not safe because his hands relax and the bomb explodes," says a counter-terrorism official, TIME reports.
The FBI bulletin also notes that suicide bombers may disguise themselves in stolen military, police or firefighter's garb or as pregnant women, TIME reports.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is warning that a proposed law would turn parents into prosecutors:
H.B. 4239, also called the "Parents' Empowerment Act," would allow the parent or guardian of a minor to sue in federal court anyone who knowingly disseminates any media containing "material that is harmful to minors" if the material is distributed in a way that "a reasonable person can expect a substantial number of minors to be exposed to the material and the minor, as a result to exposure to the material, is likely to suffer personal or emotional injury or injury to mental or moral welfare." The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

According to this story, White House officials are predicting that another major terrorist attack will happen prior to the next presidential election and that it will benefit Bush by causing people to "rally behind" the president. So, there you have it, right out of their own mouths: the motivation for the Bush administration to sponsor terrorism.

Nick Berg is the number one search term on the Web these days, a fact borne out by this story, as well as the high number of Berg-related search strings on the stats for this site.
Over the past week, I've seen a huge number of search strings such as "nick berg mysteries," "nick berg fishy," "nick berg execution fake," "berg execution wore gold ring," "nick berg anomalies," and "al qaeda beheading footage to watch."
In addition, there have been a large number of search terms related to the Iraq torture scandal: "abu ghraib porn video," "female soldier pointing," "iraq girls raped," "Iraqi women," etc.
Searches related to Berg and/or the Iraq torture scandal have in fact proven so popular they are in the Top 10 search strings for this site.
Neither topic has made it to the Number One spot, however; for the third month in a row, "Operation Northwoods"remains the most popular search string leading to this site.
Incidentally, it was a web search for “Operation Northwoods” that led comic artist Ray Earles to email me the other day. Ray just finished an issue of his comic Cowboy Actor which deals with Northwoods. Check out Ray’s great site HERE.

It’s been a long, hard few days at the drawing board, here in Deadline Hell where I’m working on my book The Bush Junta. Haven’t had time for email, so to anyone waiting for a reply, my apologies, I’ll be in touch soon.
